Hello All, and happy September! Which is what I like to refer to as Panic month. Say goodbye to those lovely, lazy days of summer and get ready for the trifecta of stress called “the Holidays” (duh duh dunh!)
Of course, my summers haven’t been all that lazy when it comes to writing, but I feel like I’ve gotten nothing else done! Now that September is here, I’m looking back on my naively optimistic plans in January and shaking my head at my poor, pitiful past self (alliteration was totally unintentional. Don’t try to read that one out loud! 😉 ).
Before I get into the post, I need to announce that the winners of my Goodreads Giveaway have been selected and notified, so congratulations to all of you lucky winners! I’ve signed your books, and they will be in the mail tomorrow after my trip to the post office.
If you didn’t get a notification about winning, don’t get discouraged! I will be running more giveaways soon, so you’ll have another chance. I have more copies, not only of Lilith’s Fall, but of all three books in the series, as well as some of my fantasy novels that I’ve been saving for giveaways.
I’m also looking at expanding the eligible territory, so that those who are international can also sign up. I’m hoping to have another giveaway before the end of the year, and for that one I’m planning a three-book giveaway, where two lucky winners can get the entire current series of Shadows in Sanctuary as a prize. More details on that as I get closer to setting it up.
I also want to thank everyone who participated by signing up for the giveaway. You guys are amazing, and I really appreciate the support!
In other news, I don’t have a lot of announcements that I haven’t already mentioned, so I won’t go into them again. I’m still working at a pace of about 1000 to 1500 words a day on my WIPs: Morbidon’s Bride and my new alien romance. I don’t work on them in the same day, though, unless I’m really feeling masochistic. 😉
I can’t spend my entire day writing though, (sigh) because I’m still too lazy to learn how to use speech-to-text software, so twelve hours at the computer typing is just too much for me physically. Plus, that whole “having a physical body with irritating but necessary requirements” thing forces me to get up and move around every hour.
So, I’m going into panic month with non-writing related plans (because I never learn my lesson!) I’d like to remodel our front bathroom, and host a great Halloween party, like we used to do. (We used to go all out on this, because if I didn’t mention it before, Halloween is my fav holiday!)
Then of course there’s the big guys: the holidays that require a trip to the haunted shed (as my daughter calls it) to lug out the ten or so bins filled with decorations. I wonder why I put myself through this every year, and then look at my kid and go, “Oh yeah, the memories! Can’t miss an opportunity to make them!”
It’s going to get busy! And I still have to write (’cause I just do! Can’t stop! Already tried) This is why I’m both looking forward to, and dreading, the holiday season. But whether I’m ready or not, here it comes!
I hope all of you are also ready for whatever holidays you’ll be celebrating during this wonderful season. As much as I complain, it is my favorite time of year. Are you preparing during Panic Month, or are you just chill about it all?
